Last of the Traitor Guards

It's time to get rid of my Traitor guards.
I had the excellent idea of making a traitor guard army. I got everything, made up a cool theme, converted EVERY single model, painted it, and then the plastic glue acted up...

I brought all the figures to Games Workshop, who confirmed that the glue was the cause of the broken figures. They were very nice and helpful and replaced every single broken figure.
I even think I got more figures...

But, considering all the time I had put down on building the army... I just don't feel like building the same army again. That, plus I've already got a small allied Catachan force for my Blood Angels, and the Chaos Marines have their Daemon allies, so the Renegade guards really don't fit in anywhere...

So I sorted my bits into tiny bags, and here's everything I've got to sell.

In this bags there are enough parts to make:
-1 Company Command squad and 2 platoons, or:
-1 Company Command squad and 5 Veteran squads, or:
-1 Company Command squad, 1 Platoon, 1 Veteran squad, 2 Heavy weapon or Specialist teams.

And by Platoon, I mean 1 Platoon Command squad and 2 Infantry squads.
in short, there are 55 figures, with a lot of upgrades, special weapons and heavy weapons.

I'll give you the full list of contents further down.
But the unique part of this army is the converted parts.

The torsos have an reinforced chest plate with mesh armour on the abdomen. This was meant to be a Traitor guard, but instead it became a low-tech guard army. The chest plate is large enough for you to paint your allegiance on, be it Imperial or Chaos. The helmets are also converted. They are trimmed down to look more primitive, plus roughly 50% of the helmets have face plates.

The torsos have an additional chest plate and mesh armour covering the abdomen.

This guardsman was painted to resemble the Games Workshop Cadians.

As you can see, the torso doesn't stick too much, but still enough to look special!

The content of the bags are:

Command Squad:
3 of each: Heavy flamers, vox casters, medipacks.

Squad Commanders:
4 of each: Plasma pistols, power swords, power fists, bolt pistols, vox casters.
7 Las pistols and 7 chainswords.

Special weapons:
3 of each: Melta guns, plasma guns, grenade launchers, flamers and sniper rifles.

Heavy Weapons:
6 of each: Autocannons, lascannons, heavy bolters, missile launchers and mortars.

38 assorted lasguns, 55 assorted legs, 60 converted torsos, 30 closed helmets, 30 open helmets.
Several decoration parts as sand bags, back packs, binoculars, shovels etc.

I would prefer to sell them in norway, since it'll make shipping easier.

If you are interested, contact me on terradax@yahoo.com. Mark the mail "Renegade guard".

Cheers!

Campaign time!

Rory has invited Rik, Mons and me to a 40k campaign. The Crusade of Vengeance!
Rory's idea is to make 4 special characters to use in our games. He has already made is characters (read of them here), and inspired us all to make ours! So here are my characters:

Black Legion Lord Keraz - Lord of the 42nd host (additional rules are underlined).

Points: 250

Wargear: Terminator Armour, Mark of Khorne, Personal Icon, Combi-melta, Bloodfeeder, Mask of Fury.

Mask of Fury: Keraz's mask is a gift of Khorne. It grants its wearer a 2+ Deny the Witch roll.

Speacial Rules: Fearless, Independent Character, Eternal Warrior, Furious Charge, Rage.

Total Domination: Keraz established his domination over the Bloodthirster in his Daemon sword long ago. Keraz will never take a wound if he rolls one or more ones when he rolls for attacks. He is the master of his sword.

Keraz is a favoured liutenenant of Warmaster Abaddon. He is the ruthless ruler of the 42nd Host. Keraz is a favoured warrior of Khorne, although he didn't seek the Blood God's favour. Centuries of killing and destroying made him a chosen champion. He was gifted with a Bloodfeeder, a Hellblade that has a Bloodthirster bound within it. Right after he drew the sword, he established his dominance over the Greater Daemon, forever binding it to his will.

Lord Keraz

Grand Sorcerer Adrastus - Advisor and Equerry to Keraz (additional rules are underlined).

Points: 200

Wargear: Terminator Armour, Twin-linked bolter, Force Staff, Mark of Tzeentch.

Special Rules: Mastery level 3.

Psychic Powers: Pyromancy, Telepathy, Telekinesis.

Warp Speaker: Depending on the scenario, Adrastus may gain additional powers or rules (with the approval of the opponent).

Adrastus holds the title of Grand Sorcerer. He is Keraz's personal advisor. Although Keraz doesn't trust magics, his still values Adrastus's councell - Only a fool would completly ignore the value of sorcery. Adrastus is well versed with daemonology, and is currently in charge of building a Tahalamen Fortress, which is a huge construction possessed by a vast daemon. With his knowledge, he will be able to comminicate with this living fortress, while the fortress slowly infests the entire planet, and finally will be able to open a huge rift, turning the entire sector into a new, small, Eye of Terror.

Sorcerer Adrastus

Gorius the Everliving - Exalted Champion of the 42nd Host (additional rules are underlined).

Points: 70

Wargear: Power Armour, Bolt pistol, Frag & Krak grenades, Power weapon, Bolter.

Special Rules: Fearless, Feel No Pain, Daemonic Strength, Independent Character.

Daemonic Strength: Gorius is semi-possessed by a Daemon. Although Gorius is still in control of his body, the Daemon grants him a portion of his strength. Gorius has +1 Wound and +2 Strength.

Exalted Champion: Although Gorious is an Independent Character, he is purchased as an Aspiring Champion for a squad of Chaos Space Marines or Chosen. He is only allowed to leave the unit if all other members of the squad are killed.

Gorius is the Exalted Champion of the 42nd Host, a title he bears with pride. He was charged with the task of building an army in the name of Keraz. A small force of Black Legionnaires, accompanied with elite trained cultists began their crusade, killing armies and enslaving the remains. And it was so that the Sons of Keraz were born. Upon his ascension to Exalted Champion he was blessed with a daemonic gift, making him stronger, and next to impossible to kill. In the Battle for Kemlik Square, Gorius sufferd greivous wounds from a demolisher cannon. What little was left of him was brought back with to the Host, and only mere months after the incident, he had fully recovered. It is said that Adrastus played a big part in the reconstruction of his body.

Gorius the Everliving

Horkal the Warfiend & Voice of Horkal (additional rules are underlined).

Points: 200 (including the entire company command squad)

Wargear: Horkal: Blessing of the Blood God, Power Axe. Voice of Horkal: Laspistol, Frag grenades, close combat weapon, Flak Armour, Refractor Field.

Special Rules: Horkal: Fearless, Rage, Furious Charge. Voice of Horkal: Senior Officer.

Horkal: Horkal uses the stats for Nork Deddog in Codex: Imperial Guard. All 'Look out, Sir!' rolls must be assigned to Horkal. As long as Horkal is alive, all units within 12" from Horkal is Fearless.

Voice of Horkal: The Voice of Horkal uses the stats for a Company Commander from Codex: Imperial Guard. As long as Horkal is alive, all orders are automatically passed.

When Gorius declared the Sons of Keraz an army worthy of fighting alongside the Lord of the 42nd Host, he appointed Horkal as the commander. Horkal carved a bloody path through his enemies with his power axe, always thirsty for more blood. His bloodthirst pleased Khorne who gave him the gift of spawnhood. Horkal is now a fearsome daemonic beast, but has lost his ability to lead the army, forever lost in bloodlust. Gorius appointed an acting commander who would act as the Voice of Horkal. It is unknown if the Voice understands Horkal at all, or if he is taking the reins. Only Adrastus knows for sure. One thing is for sure, Horkal is an icon to the army, and having him "lead" it from the front is a sight that terrifies the enemies.
There have been several Voices since Horkal's induction to spawnhood. They don't seem to last very long, especially when Horkal gets mad and turns his fury on his follower...

Horkal & Voice of Horkal

That's the main characters of my army. My Tahalamen Fortress will probably also play a big part in the campaign. Hopefully I'll get my main characters painted soon.

Until next time!
Cheers!

6th Edition is here!!

The 6th edition of Warhammer 40.000 is finally here, with some major changes!!
I will go through the game phase quick, but first I must explain the late post.

Last post was supposed to be a battle report between me and Rory's Black Scorpions, but Rory went through surgery (nothing serious, no worries!) and was high on painkillers, so we had to postpone the game. I ended up playing a game of Zone Mortalis with Mons a couple of days later, but was too tired to blog about it. I will show some of the pictures, but since the board is unfinished, it looks really boring.

Anyway, the 6th edition was released and I spent the weekend reading trhough the book, learning the rules.
I set up a table and wrote 2 army lists, Black Legion VS Blood Angels. I filmed the entire battle that I played against myself, edited it and uploaded it to Youtube. Unfortunatly, it was still too long so Youtube removed it instantly. That's why I wasn't very... in the mood to blog.

But that has now passed, and I will walk you through a basic games, with important things to remember!

Pre-game:
-Before the game, Choose an army, an allied detachment and a fortification. The picture above shows a good example of such an army. Traitor Guards with a detachment of Black Legionnaires.

-Chose a Warlord from your primary detachment and roll for traits that will affect him and the army.

-Roll randomly for psychic powers for your psykers, if you have any.

Movement phase:

-Roll for reserves.

-Use psychic powers (that are activated in the movement phase).

-Move your figures.

Shooting phase:

-Use your psychic powers

-Shoot with the units that are within range. Shooting with heavy weapons on the move, measuring before shooting and other cool rules are new to the 6th edition.

-Run with the units that are going to do so.

Assault phase:

 -Declare charge.

-Defender fires Overwatch shots. A popular rule from 2nd edition. Don't know how it worked there, but it's really nice here.

-Engage in close combat. Wound allocation has been changed, plus a Challenge system has been introduced.

REMEMBER:

Things to remember are Snapshots, Look out, sir!, Precision shot and wound allocation. Close combat weapons have several prfiles now, so there's actually a big difference between a power sword and a power axe. Characters are more in focus now, not only Independent characters, but the small guys as sergeants and squad leaders as well!

Sorry for a boring post. Rory will stop by tomorrow for a game of 1200pts. My plan is to surprise him with Traitor Guards and Chaos Space Marines.

Hope he doesn't read this post just yet...

Until next time!
Cheers!

Failed Apocalypse

A while ago I was hosting an Apocalypse game at my place. This was to be a follow up to the Battle for Kemlik Square game held at Rory's place. The other two player got sick (the saturday night fever) and had to cancel. This didn't stop me and Rory though! We decided to play a game of 2000 pts per side instead.

My choice for this game was The Sons of Keraz, 2000 pts in all it's glory!

Rory wanted to try an all Death Company army... All mounted in Land raiders.

 Rory Deploys his forces.

It took nearly all my firepower to stop the Death Company Dreadnought.

The game was over way to fast, so we decided to play another game! Since it was very long time ago since I played Daemons, I thought that I would have a go.

Nurgle Daemon Princes always prove useful to me. This fellow held his ground for a good couple of turns.

A Lord of Change and a Keeper of Secrets in an epic stand-off!

I lost both games, but we had a great time! I blame the terrain for not being finished...
Until next time!
Cheers!

Eldars vs Sons of Keraz

4th of april, Me against Mons in a 1500pts match of 40k.
Place: Games Workshop Oslo.
I was expecting Mons to bring his Necrons, but instead he chose to field his Eldar army from Saim-Hann. And me, instead of using Codex: Imperial Guard I opted to use the Defenders of Vraks army list.

Point limit: 1500 pts
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Mission: Annihilation

The war walkers open fire at the combined command squad and kills 7 men. They roll for random leadership, getting LD 5 for the rest of the game... And still manages to make the roll!

The missile launcher team downs the Wave serpent, only to reveal its deadly cargo!

The striking scorpions deploy from their wave serpent. They fire and assault the combined militia squad, wiping it from the table with only one casualty.

The combined fire from the chaos marines, the workers rabble, sentry guns and a heavy flamer from a manticore only manage to kill 3 scorpions. The marines charged the scorpions and managed to die without downing even one eldar!

After destroying the demolisher, the fire dragons bear their guns on the armoured fist squad, killing 7 of the guardsmen.

The striking scorpions are finally killed by the sentry guns and the mighty inferno cannon from the hellhound tank.

After a long exchange of fire (and harsh language), the dire avengers and farseer reaches the combined command squad. All renegades are cut down...

...But vengance is sweet! The hellhound kills 6 dire avengers and the farseer!

END GAME

Mons uses his psychic powers to shake hands.

An interesting game. Not much was left on the table when we were done.
The eldars managed to score 10 kill points, while the sons of Keraz only got 4.

Eldar Victory!

Since we played with experience points, Mons got to nominate 2 surviving units and I got one.
His dire avengers got scout, while his war walkers got to re-roll dangerouns terrain tests, a useless ability since walkers already benefit from this rule...

Not much survived the eldars wrath, so I had to give the experience point to the autocannon team, which rolled "Fearless". Not great, but could be worse.

Until next time!
Cheers!

Battle for Kemlik Square

Nearly a week ago I played a game of Apocalypse with a couple of friends. The game was supposed to be a 2 vs 2 game, but my ally got sick the last moment, so I had to pack the double and stand against the Imperium on my own!

I will be posting pictures af the game and writing descriptions of the pictures. If you want the full fiction of the game, head over to the Black Scorpions blog. I really recomend it!

The gaming table in all its glory!

Rik and Rory discuss the deployment, a problem I had to face by myself!
The Black Scorpions, mustered for war!

 The Imperium has deployed...

 ...so has Chaos!

My infantry platoons suffer greatly from the huge walker and trio of dreadnoughts.

A chimera is destroyed, forcing the Diciples of Keraz to disembark.

The autocannon team destroys a rhino, allowing the conscripts to fire at the marines inside.

The Black Scorpions librarian investigates the Warp anomaly in the church.

The infantry of the Warrick 1st rifles advances.

The Black Scorpions claim an objective.

The missile launcher team finally manages to pop a Leman Russ.

The Black Scorpions takes "The Jolly Goblin" claiming another beer objective.

The Daemons arrive to save ruin the day!!

And that's it for this time! A short telling of the game: Turn 1 saw me taking a lot of casualties, without being able to deal much pain back. Turn 2 I had to abandon my 2 objectives and re-deploy using strategic assets and reserves. Turn 3 my Daemons arrived and made the imperium turn their attention towards me. Last turn, turn 4 allowed me to move my daemons, contesting 2 objectives. In the end, we had the Imperium holding 2 objectives, Chaos holding 2, and 2 Blood Thirsters contesting 2 objectives.

A draw, to my surprise....

Next time I'll post a battle report!

Cheers!

Prepare for War!!

The 21st of april I am going to play a 2 VS 2 Apocalypse game with a couple of friends. Finally, it won't be space marine gallore, but Imperium VS Chaos! Me and my ally both play Renegade Guard, and I will include some Chaos Marines (and perhaps some daemons), and we are up against Imperial Guard and Space Marines from the Black Scorpion chapter.

So, for this occasion I have made a couple of Agis Defence lines to use as strategic asset. Since theese would be exclusively for my Renegade army, I used miliput to scultp chaos stars over the Aquilla, and filler to give the ground on the (home made) base some height.

And although I don't intend to use it this weekend, I made some bunkers for Planetstrike or Apocalypse games. Since I wanted it to go with my renegade force, and considering they have a very feral/medival look, I used the towers from the Warhammer Fantasy Fortress.

I'm really looking forward to the game. Results and a battle report will be posted eventually.

Until then, Cheers!!

Psykers, Spawns and glowing madness!

So, as promised, here's a picture of my (counts as) ogryns, The blessed ones!

They actually make more sense in a Defenders of Vraks army lists, since Ogryns there don't have ranged weapons and are more fearsome in close combat. Along with my Ogryns I also finished my squad of Battle Psykers.

I had to re-paint the faces, because the first attempt at making a glowing effect made them look like clowns. When I got the result I desired, I got so happy that I decided to paint more glowing effects! Nothing was safe from my brush! Everything from:

Auspex Scanners,

Plasma weapons,

Power weapons,

Flamers,

And even helmet lenses! This means that all my Blood Angels will have more details soon. Good thing that, because I feel I have neglecting my Blood Angels for too long... I have several thing left to paint, and even some more things to build.

So, I have played a couple of games and written some battle reports that are ready, but I'm going to post them another day... Right now I'm preparing for a game of Apocalyptic proportions, so my renegades need some painted tanks for that battle...

Until next time!
Cheers!

Blind Sniper

Remember my blind sniper? Ever wondered how he managed to become a sniper albeit being blind? Well that's because the daemon within his rifle does the aiming for him.

Sorry for the crappy pic, macro-photos is hard to take when you are photographing in poor light. So, me and my polish friend (We call him Warrior, don't ask why) decided to add some fun to our games since we are going to be gaming a lot from now on. We decided to start a campaign!

We have played 2 games and scored a win each. Since we both won a game we decided to start the campaign with a small bonus. We are going to use the experience system as layed out in the rulebook, and we will start with one experience point each. When we have nominated a unit with EXP, we write down that units stats, equipment and EXP bonus. If we want to, we can choose deploy that unit the next game! If the unit dies, it looses EXP as per the rules. This is very exciting and I am looking forward to try it out as soon as possible!

But up until now I have been busy painting figures...

Most figures are done. What's missing now is chaos stars, blood stains, hair details, the conscripts singlets and 2 "ogryns". I'll show more of those later...

And no Guard army is complete without a bit of armour!

Oops, I forgot to include my sentinels in the picture... sorry...

That's it for now! Next time I'll show you my Enslaved psykers and "Ogryns".
Until next time!
Cheers!
